Live From Baghdad Reflection

Yes, I believe that the news media does have an image problem. Many People think that the news will do whatever it takes to get their story, even if it means violating the privacy or the peace of other people. I think that most people feel that news reporters do not really care about the stories they are reporting. For example, news teams might swarm around a small, unknown school, where they have never been before and where they will never go to again, in order to report a school shooting or a threat. They may not even care about the tragedy, as long as they get the story and remain competitive with other news networks.
I think the recent tragedy of Hurricane Katrina has helped people to regain some trust in the news media. Reporters that were normally calm, collected, and under control showed their feelings and pled audiences to help end the suffering that was occuring in the Gulf Coast region. People saw that the reporters really cared about the story.
The film "Live From Baghdad" gave a favorable portrayal of the news media. It showed the reporters as regular people, doing everything in their power to report to the world what they saw in Iraq.

i agree with you on your points. the media isnt always just swarming around trying to meet ratings or to just get a story out there. they are actual people just trying to help us understand what is going on in the world and if people cant respect that then that is just too bad. those people work hard. i agree that the movie portrayed news reporters as favorable.
